Bed Sheet Shocker – Thread Count is a Lie!

And what you should be looking for instead.

In the 1990’s, somewhere in a marketing brainstorm session on Madison Avenue, a bed sheet benchmark was invented. Its name? Thread count. Its impact? Legendary. Since that day, shoppers have been under the false impression that thread count equaled quality. The notion, it turns out, is fiction.

According to the Huffington Post, the real indicator of quality is the type of fiber used in the making of the sheet. Among their experts’ recommended fibers is one that is sure to cause any shopper to do a double-take: bamboo. Yes, bamboo. The plant!

Remarkable Temperature Control

If you’re prone to feeling overheated while sleeping, it’s time to put bamboo on your shopping list. The smooth, silky fabric will keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Imagine slipping into bed with sheets so comfortable, you’ll swear you’re staying at a 5-star hotel. Now, back to reality: that boutique feeling can be yours today for less than the price of a fancy hotel breakfast.

Lasting Clean Feeling

According to Martha Stewart Living, bamboo fiber is naturally resistant to bacteria. If you wash your sheets any less than once per week, that’s welcome news. The clean feeling you get from sleeping on freshly changed hotel sheets can finally be had at home without doing laundry everyday. Ahhh.

Unbeatable Value vs. Egyptian Cotton

A recent search of major department stores found comparable Egyptian cotton sheet sets retailing for $200 to $550 and up! Our favorite bamboo sheet set from OpenSky is on sale right now for just $35. At 75% off, the supply won’t last long. We suggest you buy a set today and thank us later.

Bamboo vs. Egyptian: The Bed Sheet Wars

Who the experts are siding with, and what to look for in your next set.

Something has sparked a squabble in the bedding industry as of late. A battle of the brands over what–and who–makes the best sheet. Is it high thread count? Egyptian cotton? Pima? Sateen weave? The arguments are strong and the allegiances fierce. And some of them, it turns out, aren’t exactly based in reality.sheets_basket

According to the Huffington Post, the real indicator of quality is less about the title on the packaging, and more about the type of fiber used in the making of the sheet. Among their experts’ recommended fibers is one that is sure to cause any shopper to do a double-take: bamboo. Yes, bamboo. The plant!
